Croydon's cleanest restaurants - from Hero to Zero

Croydon Council’s latest restaurant hygiene ratings are out, see below.  ‘Heros’ are ‘5 Star’ rated for hygiene.  You can work out what ‘Zero’ means!  Thankfully My Old China (once a really nice place) has now shut.

Shame about the Kabada in Coulsdon.

    Glad Cosmo is on the good list, I ate there a couple of weeks ago.

    Never went to My Old China as it seems really really expensive. Glad I gave it a miss now.

Mick Woollett, a true gent.

Mick, a proper gent – I’ll miss him Mick Woollett (easy to remember the name, double everything except ‘e’ and ‘w’) died on Monday.   He was my editor at Motor Cycle Weekly in the ‘seventies and early ‘eighties.   He was mature in every sense of the word, made editor in his early fifties and a proper gentleman, having to work with an office-full of (mostly) youngsters. He never lost his cool, was unfailingly courteous, never swore and was always perfectly mannered.   Extraordinary.
