‘Broken’ - a TV series for the times we live in

We’ve been watching, and discussing, a powerful TV series called ‘Broken’ for our Lent Course at St Barnabas and All Saints.  It’s a visual, dramatic, aural feast.
Created by Jimmy McGovern ‘Broken’ revolves around about a Roman Catholic Priest, brilliantly played by Sean, in a deprived city – somewhere ‘up north’.
Lots of ‘issues’ and challenges for everyone that are worth debating. Not just for Roman Catholics.  Watch it on Netflix.  Or possibly catch up on BBC, see links below.
Worth watching for the imagery alone.  Worth listening for the opening tune, ‘I think it’s going to rain today’ sung by Nina Simone.  Catch it here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSYgoC_Dgw4
And who wrote it?  Amazeballs it was the ‘Short People’ composter Randy Newman!
The theme tune, also called ‘Broken’, was composed especially by Ray Davies.  It just gets better and better, doesn’t it?  Listen here on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyP68pRBc30

Remember ‘Short People’?  Catch it on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bfyS-S-IJs
