Pot. Kettle. Black Right on Yasmin blames, anti-racists, academics and time serving public service workers who have been defensive and unwilling to condemn what they should

‘Right on’ Yasmin Alibhai Brown who for years has shouted down anyone who dares to challenge the doctrine of multiculturalism has had a (non-PC) Damascene conversion! Writing in the equally right-on Independent she says the Rotherham child abuse scandal is a tale of apologists, misogyny and double standards. It ‘exposes the dangerous attitudes that exist in some of the UK's Asian communities.’ In a spectacular piece of pot calling the kettle black she blamed the white PC brigade she has so terrified into silence for the failure of authorities to investigate the 16 year scandal.   (In fact, that PC brigade not only suppressed reports, they blamed the victims for their torment). Yasmin writes, “The Rotherham report will, I hope, stop the apologists and silence their usual denials and pretexts. I mean the anti-racists, academics and time serving public service workers who have been defensive and unwilling to condemn what they should.” She says of the white PC br

My granddad reminiscing about his first job as a bank junior, ‘Out with the bullion bag chained to my waist, back with it full of bottles of stout for the manager’.

I've just discovered my granddad Ernest John Tope’s post WW1 diary. Here, as a window on the past, is his retirement speech, dated 11 February 1941 - at the height of the London blitz! 1897 as a junior at Barclays Bank, Forest Hill: ‘Out with the bullion bag chained to my waist, back with it full of bottles of stout for the manager’. “This is quite overwhelming! Many a time I have attended such functions and always have felt intensely sorry for the victims.   Now it is my turn!   I am especially glad to see my old friend Mr Chesterfield here today. He was one of my first customers and represents, to my mind, the ideal relationship between manager and customer, that of perfect trust and friendship. "I thank you Mr Rayner for your remarks about myself.   He said I had a sense of humour and I thank all those who have so generously contributed towards these very desirable gifts. When I was asked what I would like I suggested these things. They are intimat

Rotherham - council and police cover-up of 16 years of child abuse

Image
At least 1,400 children have been groomed and sexually abused in Rotherham over the last 16 years, mostly by men their victims described as ‘Asian’, but not one council manager has been disciplined.   Or resigned. The shameless Martin Kimber ( above ) ‘chief executive’ of Rotherham Council, said no many of those managers are now working in senior posts at other councils after escaping disciplinary action. But the report, described the managers’ failings as ‘blatant’.   And also points the finger of blame at police. His council and the police covered up the matter over the y6years, even supressive supressing repoprts. The Council Leader has resigned, at least. Shockingly the report says staff were terrified of identifying the perpetrators as Asian for fear of being labelled racist. Daily Telegraph report here. But despite all this evidence, today’s Guardian shamefully suggests social worker and police fears about being thought racist, weren’t the issue. M
