Doubts cast over Sturgeon's claim that virus rate 'five times' lower in Scotland

From the Daily Telegraph - Nicola Sturgeon has been accused of attempting to mislead Scots after her government was reprimanded for making unverified claims about antibody tests. The UK Statistics Authority (UKSA) said it was “unacceptable” that her administration had said 4,431 antibody tests had been carried out in a press release, but offered no data to back up the statement. Monica Lennon, Scottish Labour's health spokeswoman, described the intervention as "embarrassing" and demanded an apology. Meanwhile, doubts were also cast on Friday over a separate claim, made repeatedly by Ms Sturgeon over the past week, that prevalence of the virus in Scotland is “five times” lower than in England. The First Minister has used the figure to justify her refusal to rule out imposing quarantine restrictions on people travelling to Scotland from other parts of the UK. Britain’s woke police forces have lost their way

Clipped from : https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2020/06/30/britains-woke-police-forces-have-lost-way/ In their desperation to be loved and not seen as racist, officers are failing to keep order in response to hooliganism and violence In the last few weeks, around 140 police officers have been injured in this country; 27 in just one night last week in Brixton. Or perhaps – and I simply put the possibility out there – such efforts by all branches of the British police do not in fact show how much the police have got with the beat, but just makes things harder for the policemen and women on the actual beat? When you cast your mind back across recent months what are your most distinctive memories of the British consta...

Clipped from : https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2020/07/10/now-china-illusion-ending-canthe-west-revive-love-freedom/ The CCP’s propaganda is wearing increasingly thin in Britain, but that will not solve our larger problems There they were on Thursday, the three Huawei senior executives in a Zoom-talk with MPs. Greg Clark, chairman of the Commons Science and Technology Committee, asked them whether , in their positions, they were free to express their views. “Very much so,” replied Jeremy Thompson, vice-chairman of Huawei UK , brightly. So what did he think of the new Hong Kong security law imposed by Beijing, asked Mr Clark, sweetly. Mr Thompson coloured slightly: “I don’t think [saying anything] would be consistent with my role with Huawei in this forum,” he answered. His two colleagues claimed the same freedom, but, like him, declined to exercise it. It was a comical encapsulation of the problem of British engagement with all organisations ultimately controlled by the ...
