Doubts cast over Sturgeon's claim that virus rate 'five times' lower in Scotland

From the Daily Telegraph -

Nicola Sturgeon has been accused of attempting to mislead Scots after her government was reprimanded for making unverified claims about antibody tests.

The UK Statistics Authority (UKSA) said it was “unacceptable” that her administration had said 4,431 antibody tests had been carried out in a press release, but offered no data to back up the statement.

Monica Lennon, Scottish Labour's health spokeswoman, described the intervention as "embarrassing" and demanded an apology.

Meanwhile, doubts were also cast on Friday over a separate claim, made repeatedly by Ms Sturgeon over the past week, that prevalence of the virus in Scotland is “five times” lower than in England.

The First Minister has used the figure to justify her refusal to rule out imposing quarantine restrictions on people travelling to Scotland from other parts of the UK.

The UKSA, an independent body which has a remit of challenging misleading use of statistics, is also examining this statement.
