Cat-astrophic waste of public money



Heard the one about the cat rescue that involved two police cars, two fire engines and a two hour road closure? It’s true! It happened Cheltenham last week and it cost us thousands.  Who said the public services were cash-strapped?

Apparently the RSPCA called out the emergency services.  So my question is, will they pick up the bill?  I don’t want public money squandered in this way.

My campaign to get the RSPCA – one of Britain’s richest charities – to pick up the bill.  Honk if you agree!

Vada a bordo, cazzo!

Francesco Schettino, the self-styled 'Captain of the Costa Concordia' who jumped ship, was ordered by back on board his stricken vessel  with the words - ' vada a bordo, cazzo! '. The coastguard official who gave that order - even if you don't understand Italian, you just know it IS an order - has been hailed a hero for his no nonsense approach.  That's in sharp contrast to the braggart captain who has caused 11 or so deaths and so much tragedy. So how does this, now famous, order translate? I'm told it goes somethimng like this, "Get back on board for f**k's sake".  Helpfully Google Translate gives us, "go on boardf, f**k!" The phrase has made it onto t-shirts - see graphic.  You can hear the radio exchange on  YouTube : As for me, I won't be buying their coffee ever again! Nb: The Captain's name is pronounced 'Skettino', not as you may have wished.

How talented. How sad

Given that smoking is a death sentence, and very, very sad, it’s amazing that so many talented people do it.   Are they mad?  Do they really think it looks cool, 1930's style? I read Adele’s comments about smoking – sounded like a silly schoolgirl.   How could she risk her talent like that? Even ‘fit’ actors like Brad Pitt are addicted! And so are: Lilly Allen, Martin Sheen, Pete Docherty (of course), Kate Moss (of course), Diego Maradonna, Jonathan Ross, Billie Piper, Jack Nicholson, Jude Law, Colin Farrell, Robbie Williams, Sienna Miller, Denise van Outen, Rachel Stevens, Simon Cowell, Joss Stone, Charlotte Church, Kate Winslet, Catherine Zeta Jones, Kate Beckinsale, Orlando Bloom, Jeremy Clarkson and James May, Liam Gallagher.
